Ribbon Cutting Planned for New Mini-Pitch Soccer Court

Ames Parks and Recreation Department, along with the Ames City Council and Parks and Recreation Commission, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Friedrich Pitch, a mini-pitch soccer court at Lloyd Kurtz Park, 3710 Hyde Ave. The event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 7 at 4 p.m. at the park.

Ada Hayden Trail Closure Scheduled for Aug. 11

Trails at Ada Hayden Heritage Park, 5205 Grand Ave., will be closed for the Trail Improvement Project beginning Monday, Aug. 11, weather permitting. All hard-surface trails will be closed during construction. The project is anticipated to take 10 weeks.

Ioway Creek Stabilization Project in Brookside Park to Begin Monday

The Ioway Creek Stabilization Project in Brookside Park will begin on Monday, June 16, weather permitting. The goal is to address erosion along Ioway Creek affecting both park and private property. Stabilizing the streambank will reduce erosion, save trees and habitat, and improve water quality in the creek.

City Council Night at Bandshell is June 12

Furman Aquatic Center Opening Delayed Again

City Offices Closed for Memorial Day on May 26

City Hall, most City departments and divisions, the Community Center Gym, Ames/ISU Ice Arena, and Ames Public Library will be closed Monday, May 26, in recognition of Memorial Day. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, May 27.

New Survey to Gather Input on Multimodal Transportation Policies

Ames residents are asked to share their thoughts on how pedestrians, bicyclists, and wheeled-users access public streets, sidewalks, shared-use paths, and park trails. The feedback will be used to inform future policies and guidelines. The online survey is available at Bicycle and Personal Transportation Devices Use Survey through Friday, May 16.
