You can use this form to start or stop services in Ames, or do both if you're moving to a new place in Ames. You can also use it to add or remove a spouse from your current services, send in papers for a legal name change, or set up a yard water meter at your house.

This will explain all the ways you can pay. You can use a card to pay online or over the phone, send payments to a PO box, drop off payments at certain locations, pay in person, or set up automatic payments.

You can set up Auto Pay, which will automatically take the money you owe on your utility bill from your bank account on the due date each month. Click here or the icon above to go to the application. You can also use this form to update your Auto Pay to a new bank account.

From here you will find options available to businesses and landlords, including starting (business/commercial) services, stopping services, transferring to a new location, establishing a new leave-on agreement (landlords), removing an existing leave-on agreement, and requesting new meters.

ADD OR REMOVE AUTHORIZED USER

Should you need to add or remove an authorized user on your utility account, you may utilize this option.

If you want to sign up for paperless billing (email billing), you can do it here. You can also update your mailing address or change how you get your bill.

This link includes access to a live outage map, information on how to report an outage, the ability to view planned outages, and the option to receive automated outage information to your mobile phone.

Our bill view portal, called MyAccount, lets you see and pay your utility bills. It's run by a third party, so you need to sign up separately, log in, and link it to your Utility account.

You may view current utility rates and classes. This includes information for electric, water, sewer, and storm water rates.

The city has many smart energy projects, like home energy audits, efficiency improvements, rebates, a community solar farm (SunSmart), and is committed to being sustainable.

There are many programs to help Ames residents with their utility bills. This includes groups like Mid-Iowa Community Action, Story County Community Services, and the city's own program, Project Share. Click to learn more or to donate to our Project Share fund.
