Ames Animal Shelter Pursues New Facility

The Ames Animal Shelter staff, donors, volunteers, and guests, with help from local pets, kicked off the capital fundraising campaign for the new Ames Animal Shelter this morning. The event, facilitated by Ames City Council Member Amber Corrieri, began with the recognition of $3 million in lead donations and a commitment from the Ames City Council of $3 million.

A capital fundraising campaign for the new Ames Animal Shelter will officially launch next week with the recognition of lead donations and a commitment from the Ames City Council of $3 million. The public is welcome to attend the Ames Animal Shelter 2025 Capital Fundraising Campaign Kick-Off at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 9, at the current shelter location, 325 Billy Sunday Road.

Animal Shelter No-Cost Microchip, Vaccination Clinic Set for May 3

The Ames Animal Shelter will hold its seventh microchip clinic for Ames dog and cat owners from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, at the Ames Water Plant, 1800 E. 13th St. New this year, with help from volunteer veterinarians, the Ames Animal Shelter will also provide vaccinations for Rabies and Distemper for cats (FVRCP) and dogs (DHPP), and Bordetella (kennel cough) for dogs at the clinic.
