AMES, Iowa –The public is welcome to attend the Ames Animal Shelter 2025 Capital Fundraising Campaign Update at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, at the new shelter location, 2715 Dayton Ave.
The event will feature a brief update by Ames City Council Member Amber Corrieri, accompanied by animal and human guests.
“We are very grateful for the generosity our community has shown so far,” said Animal Control Supervisor Ron Edwards. “While we have made great strides, the need is still ongoing. Every donation, big or small, helps to create a better place to support animals in Ames.”
The Ames City Council approved purchasing property at 2715 Dayton Ave., the former location of Eagle’s Loft Childcare Center in east Ames, for a new facility. The building will require extensive renovation and an addition specifically for dogs. The project is estimated to cost $7.5 million. The Ames Animal Shelter kicked off its capital campaign in May, announcing its need to close a $1.5 million funding gap after an initial $3 million in lead gifts and a $3 million commitment from the Ames City Council. Donations are being accepted at www.AmesAnimalShelter.org.
