City of Ames Utility Requests

This form is largely self explanatory, but does require users to read carefully. Please be careful to read each aspect of the form you are asked to fill out.

 

Below is a general utility request form. It includes the ability to start or stop services, sign up for e-notifications, sign up for auto pay, and more. Requests relating to recycling, including for additional bins and walk-up service can be found by clicking here.

 

While filling out the form below, please be on the lookout for REQUIRED FIELDS. These are the only fields needed for form submission. An example of a required field. Only required fields need to be filled out. If you run across a field you do not feel comfortable answering or do not know the answer to and it is not required, you do not have to fill it out.

Please note the following:

  • Please make sure to read carefully as you proceed through this form to ensure you are entering the correct information, using the correct options, and understanding what you are agreeing to.
  • Please be aware, all applications included in this form are for services in AMES, IOWA. If you apply for services for an address that is not located within AMES, IOWA city limits, your application will be denied as we do not provide services outside city limits. 
  • We provide water and sewer services to almost every address in city limits. However, we do not provide electric services to all locations in Ames.
  • Most locations have electricity served by us, however, some locations are provided by Alliant Energy or Midland Power.
  • If you have questions regarding your electric provider, you can view the electric service map provided by the Iowa Utilities Board here: https://iowa.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=d595a7d431bc4c789065348a8f454dbb.
  • Additionally, Alliant Energy provides natural gas services to most locations in Ames.
  • Independent companies provide trash services and internet services, and there are several you may choose to contract with.
