2023-24 AAOSE Sculptures on Display

The Public Art Commission (PAC) celebrated its 27th year of the Ames Annual Outdoor Exhibition with featured artists Matt Moyer, Craig Snyder, Will Vannerson, Albert Rhea, Gail Chavenelle, Nathan Pierce, Hilde DeBruyne, and Jim and Ryan Pedersen. The annual exhibition serves the mission of PAC to create a visual and aesthetic environment that incorporates art into the lives of all Ames citizens. 

A Best in Show Awarded is voted on each year by the public. Artist Hilde DeBruyne was awarded the honor for her sculpture "Shifting Gear." Hilde says that her sculpture is a "contemporary, colorful sculpture in metal. It consists of a fun and playful composition of gear and sprockets in different sizes within a circle. It symbolizes our journey through life: we travel through different scenery: valleys, open fields, meanders and hills, each requiring our ability to change gear in different situations."
