These animals demonstrate the need in our community for live-saving work.
With your help, a new and expanded shelter will support the needs of more animals!

Please join our effort to create a better place to support animals. The current building is 30 years old, small, inadequate, and inefficient—but with your help, we can give animals in our community the safe and loving environment they need.

The City of Ames has purchased a building at 2715 Dayton Ave. to serve as the new shelter. Once remodeled, this facility will provide a healthy and efficient environment for the volunteers, staff, and animals served.

The project, with an estimated cost of $7.5 million, needs community support to bridge a funding gap. Ames City Council allocated $3 million and has received lead gifts totaling $3 million. We need your help to raise the balance of $1.5 million!

The Ames Animal Shelter is proud to be a No Kill shelter, finding loving homes for over 98% of our animals.
