Good Boy
Good Boy's story with the Ames Animal Shelter begun early this year when he was found as an injured stray. He had suffered severe facial injuries and was immediately taken to Pet Medical Center for emergency veterinary care.
Further examination revealed the cause of his trauma: a bullet fragment lodged in his skull. He was then transferred to Iowa State University’s Veterinary Medicine team for surgery to repair the damage.
This was more than a medical emergency; it was a case of suspected animal abuse. Animal control officers and police launched an extensive investigation, reaching out to many people and businesses. Their dedication led to the arrest of Good Boy’s previous owner.
Despite his painful past, Good Boy’s gentle spirit remained strong. He began to recover in a foster home, where his loving nature quickly won over his foster mom, who ultimately adopted him. Today, Good Boy is thriving with his forever family, a far cry from the injured and scared dog he once was.
Good Boy's story demonstrates the critical need for live-saving work in our community. With your help, a new and expanded shelter will support the needs of more animals!
