The Ames Municipal Utilities provides electric, water and sewer service to the community of Ames, Iowa. For over 120 years, the citizens of Ames have enjoyed the benefits of owning and controlling their Municipal Electric, Water, and Water Pollution Control Utility systems.

Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) 

Update 06-19-2020:

Based on the recommendations from the CDC, IDPH and Governor Reynolds regarding the COVID-19 virus, and for the safety and well-being of the community, our office will be closed to the public through Wednesday, July 1st. Although we are unable to receive payment in our office, we are still offering Payment Options that encourage social distancing and safety.

We recommend that customers who are concerned about receiving their statements each month to register to receive E-Notifications. Another resource available to our customers is a Click2Gov My Account, which allows customers to view their most recent utility bills as well as charge, payment, and consumption history. Up to date information regarding the City of Ames and our response to COVID-19 can be found here.
