Map of Bloomington Road closure

AMES, Iowa – Bloomington Road, from Stange Road to 500 feet west of Eisenhower Avenue, will close on Monday, June 29, weather permitting, for construction work. This is anticipated to take three to four weeks.

The intersection of Bloomington Road and Stange Road will remain open for northbound and southbound traffic. All lanes west of the intersection will be open to traffic. The sidewalk on the north side of Bloomington Road will remain open. The shared-use path on the south side of Bloomington Road will be closed.

Hyde Avenue at Bloomington Road will be closed for the duration of this stage of the project. Please use caution in this area and allow extra travel time while traveling through a construction zone.

The City of Ames has contracted with Manatts for the rehabilitation of Bloomington Road. The project includes pavement removal and replacement on Bloomington Road from George Washington Carver Road to 500 feet east of Eisenhower Avenue. The project also includes the replacement of the shared-use path along the south side of Bloomington Road from Stange Avenue to just west of Eisenhower Avenue, and ramps and pedestrian push buttons will be updated for accessibility standards.
