One-Time Payments
There are numerous ways to make a one-time payment with a card through one of our third parties. This includes making a payment via our Bill Pay Portal online, through Paymentus corporation online, through Paymentus corporation via a toll-free phone line, or in person at City Hall (515 Clark Ave). Please note that all these options involve transaction fees brought on by our third parties, and all have a $450 per transaction limit. A return of three payments in a twelve month period may place your account on a cash only basis.
The Bill View Portal allows you to make one-time payments, even without an existing account. Please be aware, payments through this system incur a $2.99 fee per transaction, charged by our third party. Each transaction is limited to $450.
To make a payment, you do not need an existing account with our Bill View Portal. Instead, you may click the One Time Payment option, which will be on the left of the portal after clicking the icon link. All you need is your account number.
The Paymentus Corporation has a one-time payment portal, accessible through this link, or the icon to the left. Paymentus charges a $3.50 per transaction fee, and limits each transaction to $450. Additionally, Paymentus limits each user to up to two payments per day, up to three a week, and up to five a month. If you make a payment with Paymentus, please be aware you will need your Customer ID, Location ID, and the balance you would like to pay. The Customer ID is the first part of your account number, before the dash. The Location ID is the part after the dash. For instance, if your account number were 111111-33333, the Customer ID would be 111111 and the Location ID would be 33333. Your account number can be obtained on any copy of your bill.
THE CITY OF AMES IS NOT IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED OF PAYMENTS THROUGH PAYMENTUS. Our third party provides notification of your payment on a delay. If you pay before 7:00 pm, the payment will be posted the next business day. If you pay after 7:00 pm, the payment will be posted two business days after your payment.
PHONE PAYMENT VIA PAYMENTUS
The Paymentus Corporation also maintains a toll-free line on our behalf, 877-778-3348. The toll-free line works just like the online payment portal from Paymentus. There's a $3.50 fee for each transaction, a limit of $450 per transaction, and you can only make two payments per day. If you make a payment through this line, you will need your account number and the balance of how much you'd like to pay.
