The Water System Improvements program provides for replacing water mains in areas that are experiencing rusty water problems. It also provides for installing larger distribution mains. The Seal Coat Improvements program is the annual program for removal and replacement of built-up seal coat streets. Complete removal of built-up seal coat allows for repairs to curbs, gutters, and placement of new paving surfaces.
Project Update
Weather permitting, water shut off will take place on Wednesday, November 26th. Anticipated shut off is 4 to 8 hours beginning at 8AM.
You may/will experience a loss of water service for the duration noted above. Please refrain from attempting to use water during this time period.
Should you have air or rust in your water from this work, try leaving the cold tap running for several minutes. This is typically all it takes to clear the water up.

Starting April 13th, Iowa Water & Waste Systems will begin working on the water main improvements on Ferndale Ave and Furman Dr. This work will include potholing to verify depth of utilities installation. Starting April 20th, Iowa Water & Waste Systems will begin installation of a new water main on Ferndale Ave and Furman Dr. The water main installation will be completed using trenchless method; therefore, all driveway access will remain open during this phase. On-street parking will be restricted.The contractor is anticipating 4-6 weeks to complete this phase.
