The Public Art Commission is excited to accept applications for the placement of art through the Neighborhood Sculpture Program. This program supports the Commission's commitment to creating a visual and aesthetic environment that incorporates art into the lives of all Ames residents. The application deadline is November 15, 2026. Selected neighborhoods will be notified in early Spring 2027 pending City Council approval.

The available sculptures consist of pieces currently on display in the Ames Annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition in the Ames Main Street Cultural District. Any Ames neighborhood that might be interested in acquiring one of these works is encouraged to apply. The sculptures available for purchase can be viewed electronically through the City of Ames website or in person in Downtown Ames.

The sculpture must be displayed in a public area that is open and can be accessed by the citizens of Ames, such as a neighborhood park or cul-de-sac. Safety considerations for both drivers and pedestrians will be a deciding factor in placement of the piece. Approval from the Ames Traffic Engineer as well as the City Risk Manager will be required.

If your neighborhood is interested in acquiring one of these sculptures, please fill out the application form. Questions can be directed to the City Manager's Office at 515-239-5101 or publicartcommission@cityofames.org
