2027 Ames Public Art Commission Calendar

The Ames Public Art Commission invites Ames residents to submit digital photographs for use in the Ames Public Art Commission’s 2027 calendar. The theme for the calendar is “Art Up Close”.

Requirements for photograph submissions are as follows:

  1. Photographers must be Ames residents.

  2. Photographers of all ages are encouraged to apply.

  3. Photographers must submit two images of each piece of art photographed. One image should display the entire piece of art while the other should be an up close image that will be featured in the calendar.

  4. Photographs must be of art pieces that are in the City of Ames art inventory within the city limits of Ames, and be the artist’s interpretation of “Art Up Close”. Photographers may review art pieces in the inventory on the Public Art Commission’s GIS database.

  5. Photographs must not contain any images promoting bigotry, racism, or harm against any group or individual. Discrimination against any race, religion, nationality, gender, or sexual orientation will not be tolerated.

  6. Photographs must be submitted via email in jpeg format with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. The submittal should include a brief artist statement, along with Name, Address, Phone Number, and age of applicant.

  7. Designs must be received no later than August 15, 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.

  8. The City reserves the right to approve or reject any or all submitted photographs.

  9. A total of twelve (12) honorariums in the amount of $50 each will be awarded to the photographers of selected images.
