Mayor John Haila is looking for Ames residents interested in volunteering their time to serve on a City board or commission.

Board and commission members make recommendations to the Ames City Council and assist the Council in carrying out various forms and functions of City government. There are 18 separate boards and commissions, which focus on distinct issues, programs, or services. Applicants must live in Ames and be at least 18 years old.

“More than 100 Ames residents are making a difference and helping impact our community through their volunteer work on a board or commission,” said Haila. “I invite you to learn more about the opportunities and submit an application.”

More information about the different boards and commissions as well as the application are available at www.CityOfAmes.org/BoardsAndCommissions.

Applications are due by Friday, Jan 30.
