Rummage RAMPage Seeks Non-Profits
Published on April 21, 2026
AMES, Iowa – The City of Ames, in partnership with the Iowa State University Office of Sustainability, is seeking non-profit organizations to assist with the tenth annual Rummage RAMPage. Rummage RAMPage is a community-wide garage sale designed to keep reusable items out of the waste stream. Items are donated for sale, and volunteers from local non-profit groups help run the sale and share in any profit.
An orientation meeting for interested volunteers and non-profit organization representatives is planned for 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, at the Water Treatment Plant, 1800 E. 13th St. This meeting is for new volunteers and new organizations, although anyone is welcome to attend.
As an incentive to be involved in the event, organizations receive a share of the profits based on the number of volunteer hours. The 2026 Rummage RAMPage will be held from Friday, July 24, through Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Ames Intermodal Facility parking ramp, 129 Hayward Ave.
Rummage RAMPage has continued to grow each year, with the 2025 event raising $72,641, and finding new homes for 131,434 pounds of furniture and housewares. An impressive 51 non-profit groups volunteered for the event, and each agency shared proceeds based on the hours of volunteer time.
