AMES, Iowa – Entries are now being accepted for the Public Art Commission (PAC)’s Photography Contest. PAC is seeking amateur and professional photographers of all ages who are Ames residents to submit digital photographs for use in PAC’s 2027 Calendar. The theme for the calendar is “Art Up Close.”

A $50 honorarium will be awarded to the photographers of the twelve images selected for use in the calendar. More information about submission requirements is available at www.CityOfAmes.org/PAC.

“This year’s “Art Up Close” theme invites photographers to discover the beauty and creativity that can be found in the details of public art,” said PAC Chair Theresa Stromberg-Murphy. “We’re excited to see how residents interpret the theme through their own unique perspectives.”

The role of PAC is to establish public art philosophy, develop a public art plan for the City, monitor the public art budget, recommend funding allocations for public art within City facilities, develop guidelines for selecting artwork, seek private and governmental funding for public art, and develop educational, promotional projects for public arts programming.
