Nominations Accepted for Humanitarian Award

AMES, Iowa – The Ames Human Relations Commission (AHRC) is seeking nominations for its annual Humanitarian Award. This award recognizes an Ames resident whose worthy contributions to our community demonstrate extraordinary quality, especially in efforts to promote wellbeing and belonging in Ames. To be eligible to receive the award, the nominee must reside in Ames.

The recipient of the award will be recognized during the community celebration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., held annually in January.

The Humanitarian Award application is available on the City’s website at www.CityOfAmes.org/AHRC.

The application deadline is Friday, Nov. 7, 2025.

AHRC's purpose is to connect and support all communities in Ames by providing opportunities for growth and engagement; focusing on building trust, respect, and shared goals for the future; bridging gaps, celebrating differences, and building unity, and championing equity and accessibility in Ames through hosting, attending, and supporting local events.
