Input Sought for CDBG /HOME Annual Action Plan

The public is encouraged to provide input to the City of Ames on its 2026-27 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)/HOME Annual Action Plan, which outlines the proposed activities, project locations, and proposed budgets being funded by the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974.
This funding covers the program year beginning July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME funds can be used to implement a wide range of community and economic development activities focused on neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and the provision of enhanced community facilities and services.
The funded activities must meet the following three national objectives:
- Benefit persons of low and moderate income
- Aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight
- Meet other community development needs of particular urgency
Written comments or inquiries may be submitted to the Planning & Housing Department at Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave., or by email to vanessa.bakerlatimer@cityofames.org through Thursday, July 23. The Ames City Council will also discuss the approval and submittal of the plan at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28 at City Hall Council Chambers.
Copies of the Annual Action Plan are available for review from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Planning & Housing Department and during regular operating hours at the Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Ave.
