Map of Hyland Avenue patching for August

AMES, Iowa – The next stage of patching on Hyland Avenue, from Oakland Street to Lincoln Way, will take place between Monday, Aug. 11, and Friday, Aug. 15, weather permitting. During this work, the northbound lane of Hyland Avenue, from West Street south to 140 Hyland Ave., will be closed.

Hyland Avenue northbound traffic will be detoured to Campus Avenue to access Hyland Avenue north of West Street. Lanes will be narrow, and crews will be working near traffic. Motorists should consider other routes, if available. Previous patching work in the southbound lane has been completed.

The City of Ames has contracted with All Star Concrete for the reconstruction of Hyland Avenue. The project includes pavement removal and replacement on Hyland Avenue from Ontario Street to Pammel Drive, and patching on select locations between Pammel Drive and Lincoln Way. Existing bike lanes on Hyland Avenue from Ontario Street to Oakland Street will be removed from the roadway and relocated to a new shared-use path along the west side of Hyland Avenue. The entire project is anticipated to be completed by this fall.
