Final ‘Neighborhood Connections’ Road Trip Planned

The City of Ames is bringing information and fun directly to residents with a final “Neighborhood Connections Road Trip Stop.” The event is from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at Roosevelt Park, 905 Ninth St. This final stop will include an opportunity to meet Penny, the Ames Police Department’s Crisis K-9, and her handler, Sgt. Amber Christian. Penny will be celebrating her first anniversary with the department.

Residents of all ages are invited to stop by, visit with neighbors, connect with City staff and elected officials, and enjoy a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere filled with activities, equipment displays, snacks, and more. The event is designed to help residents learn more about City services while having fun close to home.

“We’ve seen fantastic turnouts for our Neighborhood Road Trip Stops this summer,” said Assistant City Manager Pa Vang Goldbeck. “As our final stop of the summer, this event is a chance to explore City vehicles, connect directly with local leaders, and enjoy an afternoon with neighbors.”
