AMES, Iowa – Four hands-on recycling workshops are planned at Sixty Forward Center, 205 S. Walnut Ave. These sessions are designed to help Ames residents ages 60 and above navigate the transition to residential curbside recycling in Ames, which will begin in July. Several surrounding Story County communities will also begin recycling programs at the same time.
The workshops will be held:
These come-and-go workshops will provide an overview of the upcoming changes and allow participants to practice which materials are accepted in the recycling carts. The new, 96-gallon blue carts will be delivered to single family and multi-family homes of four or less throughout June. Curbside recycling will be provided on an every-other-week schedule with a monthly charge of $7.75 added to utility bills.
Those who take part in the workshops will be eligible to receive prizes for participation.
