AMES, Iowa – The outside lanes of Bloomington Road, from George Washington Carver Avenue to Stange Road, will close beginning Monday, June 1, weather permitting, for removal and replacement of pavement, curb, and a storm water structure. This is anticipated to take two to three weeks.
The south portion of the Stange Road intersection will close for approximately one to two weeks. Motorists should use George Washington Carver Avenue or Hoover Avenue to access Bloomington Road from the south. The south crosswalk will also be closed for this work. A pedestrian detour will be posted.
Please use caution in this area and allow extra travel time while traveling through a construction zone.
The City of Ames has contracted with Manatts for the rehabilitation of Bloomington Road. The project includes pavement removal and replacement on Bloomington Road from George Washington Carver Road to 500 feet east of Eisenhower Avenue. The project also includes the replacement of the shared-use path along the south side of Bloomington Road from Stange Avenue to just west of Eisenhower Avenue, and ramps and pedestrian push buttons will be updated for accessibility standards.
