The Traffic Division manages signal systems, signs, and pavement markings that regulate traffic in the City of Ames (excluding U.S. highways and areas under Iowa State University jurisdiction).

This division also maintains the parking system, including parking meters, parking lots, and regulation signs and markings.

Administrative operations of the James Herman Banning Ames Municipal Airport are managed by the Traffic Engineering Manager.
