Sanitary Sewer System

Sanitary Sewer System

Repair and maintenance of almost 220 miles of sanitary sewer collection main and over 4,000 manholes.  Activities include televising and jetting sanitary sewer line, acoustic testing of sanitary sewer lines, maintenance of monitoring equipment, and utility locating services for public utilities.

Sanitary Sewer Backups

Pipes in the collection system can get blocked causing backups of sanitary sewer.  If sanitary sewer is backing up inside of a property, property owners should consult with a plumber to ensure that there is not a blockage in their service line.  Many times sewer backing up inside of properties is the result of grease buildup or debris that is flushed or deposited into the sanitary sewer collection system.  Please be cognizant of what is placed into the sanitary sewer system.  Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG), flushable wipes, rags, cleaning products, etc… do not break down and can cause blockages in the system.

Sewer Services

The adjacent property owner owns the piping from the City’s sanitary sewer main, including the tap into the main.  Sewer services can fail and leak at times and it is the responsibility of the property owner to repair any sanitary service leak.
