How to get a copy of a police report or record:

To obtain a copy of a police record, please call the Ames Police Records Division for information, 515-239-5135. Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Public Information Officer: 

The Ames Police Department's Public Information Officer serves as a liaison between the department and the news media on events of concern to the public, major crime incidents and operational activities of the department.

The Public Information Officer can be contacted Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 515-239-5312 or through the department's Communications Center, 515-239-5133.
