River Valley Park

River Valley Park includes four ball diamonds north of 13th Street and two lighted diamonds south of 13th Street. Parks and Recreation leagues and programs have first priority for these diamonds, along with private rentals. To reserve a ball diamond, call our office at 515-239-5350.

Four soccer fields of various sizes are set up in the northwest portion of the park during the fall, winter, and spring. Most soccer fields are not marked throughout the year. Parks and Recreation leagues and programs have first priority for use. At other times, the fields are open on a first-come, first-served basis.

Two portable ice rinks—one for figure skating and one for hockey—are set up on the south side of 13th Street during the winter months and are open for use, weather permitting. No skate rentals or concessions are available.

Hawthorn Shelter

This is the west shelter and is closer to the restrooms. It has seating for approximately 60 people and includes one grill.

Cottonwood Shelter

This is the east shelter and is farther from the restrooms. It has seating for approximately 56 people and includes one grill.
