2021-22 AAOSE Sculptures on Display

The Public Art Commission celebrated it 30th anniversary during the 2021-22 Ames Annual Sculpture Exhibition with fourteen sculptures on display in Downtown Ames. Featured artists included Hilde DeBruyne, Ben Pierce, Tim Adams, James Bearden, Ron Dinsdale, Steve Reddell, Albert Rhea, Damian Radice, Sung-Hee Min, Gail Chavenelle, and Jon Kamrath.

The public selected Judd Nelson as the Best in Show awardee for his work "Slow Dancing." He shared that the "sculpture is about two cranes in love. The movement or gesture of these two intertwined animals are swaying slowly and moving in a hypnotic state. I created these creatures by hammering forged steel into shapes and then welding them together. I also incorporated the elements of positive and negative space".
