Mari's Special Diet

When Mari arrived at the shelter as a stray, it was obvious she was experiencing discomfort when urinating. When she was taken to a veterinary hospital for diagnostics, they found she had stones inside her bladder. We placed her on a special urinary diet to attempt to reduce the size of the stones and scheduled her surgery. Amazingly, the urinary diet worked so well that Mari's stones were completely gone when they rechecked her ultrasound before the surgery!

Because her diet was so successful at eliminating the stones, Mari will need to stay on this diet to prevent the stones from coming back.

Mari's diet is a prescription diet, meaning it's purchased from a veterinarian's office or through an online retailer with a prescription from the veterinarian.

The chart below provides some estimates on costs for purchasing her diet. While the monthly expense is higher than a regular diet, when compared to another diet of good quality, the price difference is less than $30.00 per month.
