Memorial Day: Remember and Honor
The Ames Patriotic Council is sponsoring a Memorial Day parade beginning at 10:15 a.m. The parade will start at City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue and will proceed north along Clark Avenue and then east along Ninth Street to the Ames Municipal Cemetery, 310 E. Ninth St.
 
A Memorial Day program will be held at 11 a.m. at the cemetery.
 
The event will be in person but also viewable at https://www.facebook.com/AmesPatrioticCouncil/events and www.AmesPatrioticCouncil.org.
 
In case of rain, the parade will be cancelled, and the program will move indoors to the City Hall Auditorium at 11 a.m.
 
Retired Brigadier General Craig Bargfrede will be the featured speaker. Bargfrede served for nearly 34 years in the Minnesota and Iowa Army National Guard, including active duty in Afghanistan. The program will also include representatives of the City of Ames and American Legion Post No. 37. Afterwards, American Legion Post No. 37 will provide lunch at the post, 225 Main St.
