City Hall and all other City facilities are closed to the public as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19. The closures will be effective after 5 p.m. Thursday, March 19, and will continue through May 15, 2020. City staff will continue to report to their offices and serve the public. Residents are encouraged to conduct City business online or by contacting individual City departments directly. Residents who are unsure how to conduct their City business may contact the City’s customer service hotline from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 515.239.5670.

Based on the recommendations from the CDC, IDPH and orders from Governor Reynolds regarding the COVID-19 virus, and for the safety and well-being of the community, all Parks and Recreation facilities and activities will be suspended effective immediately through May 15.  This includes the Ames/ISU Ice Arena, Municipal Pool, Ames City Auditorium, Ames Dog Park, the Georgie Tsushima Memorial Skate Park and Community Center. All playgrounds in Ames are Closed.  

All parks except the dog park and the skate park are open.  No gatherings of 10 or more people are allowed. Patrons must follow CDC guidelines for illness and social distancing when using the park system.   

The public can still register for classes that begin after May 15 by using the online system, the drop box outside of Ames City Hall on Clark Avenue or calling 515-239-5350 between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday-Friday.
