2023/24 Campustown Public Improvements (Welch Avenue)

This project will include but is not limited to pavement improvements,
pedestrian facility improvement, repair/replacement of storm sewer and sanitary sewer pipe and structures, & water main replacement on Welch Ave. This project is intended to be constructed during the 2024 and 2025 construction season.

Announcement : A temporary fence will be installed along both side of Welch Ave to provide a safe pedestrian route through the construction zone. This work will require a full road closure of Welch Ave between Chamberlain St and Hunt St.

2024/25 Arterial Street Pavement Improvements (Hyland Ave)

The City of Ames has contracted with All Star Concrete for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Hyland Avenue. The project will include three stages of full PCC pavement replacement from Ontario Street to Pammel Drive, as well as patching and rehabilitation at select locations between Pammel Drive and Lincoln Way.

Announcement : Set out your garbage can as usual. The contractor will move cans to a designated pickup location for collection. To ensure your can is returned to the correct address, please tape your address to it. Residents with landscaping in the right-of-way should remove any plants/objects, as they may be damaged or removed during construction. Green areas will be restored on project completion.

2024/25 Collector St. & Water System Improvements (Oakland St)

The project location will include street and water main improvements on Oakland Street from Oliver Avenue to Hawthorne Avenue, including sidewalk infill from Oliver Avenue to Franklin Avenue.

Phase 3 of Intelligent Transportation System

Installation of traffic adaptive systems that utilize technology to conduct real time optimization of traffic and pedestrian flow at signalized intersections.
