Emergency Snow Route Street Sign

AMES, Iowa – Due to the amount of snow forecast in the area, the City of Ames Snow Ordinance will go into effect today: 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, 2025.

Important Reminders:

  • Snow routes are marked with red and white signs.
  • Vehicles must be moved to off-street parking or streets that are not designated snow routes.
  • The ordinance is expected to remain in effect until 8 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, but may vary depending on plowing conditions.
  • Snow is expected to fall most of the day on Saturday varying in intensity.  Crews will most likely be making multiple passes on streets until the snow stops falling.

With more snow on the way, all Ames residents are encouraged to remove vehicles from residential streets—especially those parked in circles or cul-de-sacs. However, only vehicles on designated snow routes are required to be moved.

More Snow Possible Later This Week

Another storm system may bring additional snowfall on Monday. Watch for updates as more details become available.
