The City of Ames, in partnership with the Iowa State University Office of Sustainability, is seeking non-profit organizations to assist with the ninth annual Rummage RAMPage. Rummage RAMPage is a community-wide garage sale designed to keep reusable items out of the waste stream. Items are donated for sale, and volunteers from local non-profit groups help run the sale and share in any profit.

An orientation meeting for interested volunteers and non-profit organization representatives is planned for 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, at the Water Treatment Plant, 1800 E. 13th St. This meeting is for new volunteers and new organizations, although anyone is welcome to attend.

As an incentive to be involved in the event, organizations receive a share of the profits based on the number of volunteer hours. The 2025 Rummage RAMPage will be held from Friday, July 25, through Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Ames Intermodal Facility parking ramp, 129 Hayward Ave.

Rummage RAMPage has continued to grow each year, with the 2024 event diverting more than 132,782 pounds of furniture and housewares from the landfill and raising more than $62,300 for local non-profit agencies. The sale will be open to everyone. More information is available at www.CityOfAmes.org/RummageRampage.
