Ribbon Cutting Planned for New Ada Hayden Path
Published on November 05, 2025
AMES, Iowa – Ames Parks and Recreation Department, along with the Ames City Council and Parks and Recreation Commission, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new concrete path at Ada Hayden Heritage Park. This event will take place at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, at the park, located at 5205 Grand Ave.
The Ada Hayden Heritage Park Trail Improvement Project, which began in August, involved the removal and replacement of the 10-foot-wide asphalt trail with a 12-foot-wide concrete path. It also included replacing the path connections to Edgewater Court, Fletcher Boulevard, and Stonebrooke Road.
“We appreciate the community’s patience during the construction period of the new path,” said Keith Abraham, Parks and Recreation Director. “The wider path allows the opportunity for various modes of transportation, such as walking and jogging, along with bicycles and scooters, to ensure a safer and more enjoyable experience for all users.”
The Parks and Recreation Department manages 40 parks and offers approximately 200 athletic, aquatic, instructional, and wellness programs. Indoor programs are provided year-round at the Community Center and Ames/ISU Ice Arena. For more information on Ames Parks and Recreation, please call the Community Center at 515.239.5350.
