AMES, Iowa – The public is invited to a reception for out-going City Attorney Mark Lambert, who is retiring from the City of Ames after 13 years of service. The reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, in the Community Center Gymnasium, located in City Hall, 515 Clark Ave. There will be a brief program at 3 p.m.
As City Attorney, Lambert provides legal services to the Mayor, City Council, the City Manager, City Staff, as well as City Boards and Commissions, and Mary Greeley Medical Center. He advises City officials and staff concerning legality of operations, policies, procedures, and activities. His duties include drafting ordinances, resolutions, and other documents as directed for review and action by the Mayor and City Council. The City Attorney and the City Manager are the only two employees who report directly to the Ames City Council.
Lambert joined the City of Ames as an Assistant City Attorney in 2013. He came to Ames after working for several years as an administrative law judge and a member of the Iowa Utilities Board. He holds a law degree from the University of Iowa.
A recruitment for a new City Attorney is currently underway.
