AMES, Iowa – The northbound lanes of Grand Avenue will close north of the Grand Avenue and 13th Street intersection, beginning Monday, Nov. 2, as Ames Electric Services begins power pole replacement. The lanes are expected to be closed through Friday, Nov. 20.
Northbound traffic on Grand Avenue will be maintained by utilizing the inside southbound lane. Southbound traffic on Grand Avenue will be limited to the outside southbound lane. Eastbound and westbound traffic on 13th Street will be maintained in one lane in each direction through the intersection.
Traffic will be monitored by Public Works crews. Traffic signal timing will be adjusted to maintain traffic flow as needed. Motorists are advised to plan for delays and consider alternate routes.
This is the first step of the intersection improvement project that will begin construction in 2028. Additionally, utility relocations will take place in 2027 as part of the intersection project.
