Map of Sixth Street Closure

AMES, Iowa – The north lane of Sixth Street from Brookridge Avenue to Northwestern Avenue will close on Monday, Aug. 25, weather permitting, for pavement removal and replacement.

This is anticipated to take six to seven weeks. During this time, eastbound traffic will shift to the south to allow one lane of traffic in each direction. The bike lanes on both sides of Sixth Street will be closed through the construction zone. Cyclists and pedestrians should use the shared-use path on the south side. Motorists should expect delays and use caution in the area.

The City of Ames has contracted with Construct Inc. for this project, which includes pavement removal and replacement and underground utility improvements.
