City of Ames Schedule for Holidays

AMES, Iowa – Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Ave., and most City of Ames offices will be closed for the Christmas holiday on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 25 and 26. Most City of Ames offices will also be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, in observance of New Year’s Day.

The Community Center will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 24 and 25, and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. The facility will close early at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, Sunday, Dec. 28, and Wednesday, Dec. 31. The Ames/ISU Ice Arena will be open Wednesday, Dec. 24 for Figure Freestyle from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and closed on Thursday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. The Ames Public Library will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 24 and 25, and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. The library will be open regular hours on Friday, Dec. 26, and Friday, Jan. 2, 2025. CyRide will operate fewer trips during the Iowa State University semester break from Dec. 20 through Jan. 18, 2026. All shaded trips and routes noted in the normal school year schedules will not operate at these times. In addition, there will be no CyRide service on Thursday, Dec. 25, or Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. Service will end at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 31. For more CyRide schedule information, visit www.cyride.com.

Resource Recovery Plant administrative office and tipping floor will be closed Thursday and Friday, Dec. 25 and 26, and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
