City Hall Temporarily Closed after Power Loss

AMES, Iowa – Contractors working on the heating and cooling system at City Hall, 515 Clark Ave., caused an electric panel malfunction knocking out power to City Hall at approximately 2:30 p.m. today. The building was closed, and tonight’s Ames Area Metropolitan Planning (AAMPO) and City Council meetings will be held via Zoom.
City Hall is anticipated to reopen Wednesday morning.

Tonight’s City Council meeting will include an amended agenda. Three items will be tabled to a future meeting including Climate Action Plan update, Nuisance Ordinance Update, and Renewable Energy Program modifications.
All programs being held at the Community Center tonight are cancelled. This includes: Youth Dance Classes, Fitness Classes, Open Gym Programs, and the Community Center Weight Room. The Community Center is closed through noon Wednesday, July 9.
The Balance, Strength, and Stretch Class at 8:15 a.m. for Wednesday, July 9 will take place at the Sixty Forward Center, 205 S Walnut Ave.
