City Council Night at Bandshell is June 11

AMES, Iowa – The community is invited to enjoy a night of music at City Council Night at the Bandshell on Thursday, June 11, at Bandshell Park, 125 E. Fifth St. This traditional summer event includes the opportunity to meet Ames City Councilmembers as they hand out free ice cream and Ames water. Additionally, City staff will have an informational table at the event to engage with residents about curbside recycling.

Tables for ice cream, water, and recycling information will be set up at 6:30 p.m. A Flag Day Ceremony will begin at 7:45 p.m. The Ames Municipal Band concert, conducted by Michael Golemo, will begin at 8 p.m. The concert is free, and attendees are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs to the park. In the event of severe weather, City Council Night at the Bandshell will be rescheduled

The band will present family-friendly, hour-long concerts every Thursday at 8 p.m. in Bandshell Park in June and July. Each week the band will perform a different concert featuring popular music, light classical, hymns, marches and music from Broadway and films.
