This measure requires cities to reduce pollutants in stormwater runoff from construction activities that result in a land disturbance of one acre or more. Property owners must obtain a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Permit No. 2 (GP-2) and a City of Ames Construction Site Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance (COSESCO) Permit for controlling site erosion and sediment from disturbed areas. Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) are prepared and reviewed for compliance with the City’s Construction Site Erosion Control Ordinance. Quarterly inspections of active sites are performed by City staff and practices are inspected and enforcement is applied if necessary.
