Indoor Volleyball Fall

Welcome to the 2025 City of Ames Parks and Recreation Adult Fall Indoor Volleyball Program! Below is the registration information for the upcoming season. We appreciate your interest and participation. For questions, contact Katie Todd at Katie.Todd@cityofames.org or 515-239-5367.

Adult volleyball is one of the most popular sports in Ames. Women’s and men’s officiated leagues are offered Monday through Thursday evenings, and coed leagues play Friday evenings and Sundays. All games will be held at the Community Center.

Game Times:
Monday–Friday games start at 7 p.m.
Sunday matches begin at noon.

Season:
Fall League runs September through December.
Winter League runs January through early April.

Notes

• All league matches begin Sept. 22 at the Community Center.
• Men’s and Women’s leagues play Monday through Thursday evenings, 7 to 10:15 p.m.
• Coed matches are Friday evenings, 7 to 10:15 p.m., and Sundays, noon to 9 p.m.
• Each league accepts a maximum of eight teams on a first-come, first-served basis. Please indicate a second choice on the registration form.
• Scheduling includes one doubleheader per week.
• There will be no byes; teams play every week.

• A minimum of six players must be on the roster. Managers may add players later.
• League fees: $23 per match, plus $15 for each non-resident player.
• There is a $50 fee for the season-ending tournament.
• Prizes will be awarded to league and tournament winners.

Deadlines

• Monday, Sept. 1: League registration and roster deadline
• Thursday, Sept. 4: Volleyball managers meeting, 5:15 p.m. via Zoom
• (Note: Please have a team representative attend the manager’s meeting, where decisions about the league and number of games will be made. League fees must be paid in full before the season starts, or your team will not be allowed to participate.)
• Friday, Sept. 12: Volleyball fees due
• Monday, Sept. 22: Season begins
• Monday, Dec. 15: Season ends (projected)

Levels

Play is offered at multiple levels to accommodate players of varying skills and competitive interests. Refer to the Volleyball Player/Team Rating System to help determine the best fit for your team. Teams that won their division last spring should move up one level this season.

Limited space is available in each league. Leagues fill on a first-come, first-served basis, with preference given to teams with over half Ames residents.

Non-Residents

The Ames Parks and Recreation Commission and City Council have established a $15 non-resident fee for adult athletic league participants living outside Ames city limits. Non-residents do not pay city property taxes but use city facilities and programs, so the fee helps offset those costs. This fee is charged per season at the time league fees are submitted.
