Smart Energy Rebates are designed to help Ames Electric Services customers conserve energy and reduce their environmental impact. As advances are made in energy-saving technologies, our rebates are updated as well.

We have transitioned to a paper-free rebate system. Please submit your rebates online if you are able! If you have questions about the rebate portal, feel free to call us for a quick orientation to the new system. If you are not able to submit your rebate online, you can give us a call to request a paper form in the mail. You can reach us at 515.239.5177.

Efficient Air Conditioner & HVAC Rebates

An incentive to the customer for installing a residential-type high-efficiency air conditioner.

Air Source Heat Pump Rebate

Rebate Value:

$1,200 for 17.2 SEER or better, or for Energy Star Cold Climate certified models

$600 for 15.2 to 17.1 SEER

(Max $500 for mini-split units)

Geothermal Heat Pump Rebate

Rebate Value:

$800 per ton, $1,000 per ton for EnergyStar®
Geothermal units

Rebate is $400 per ton for geothermal equipment replacement (with no new wells)

Central Air Conditioner Non-Residential

Rebate value:

$200 for 17.2 SEER or better

Smart Thermostat Rebate

Rebate value: $25

Commercial Photovoltaic (Solar Panels) Installation Rebate

Commercial Electric Vehicle Charger Rebate

EV charging installed at your commercial location can provide you sustainable transportation and reduce environmental footprint. Click here for a guide to permits and applications required to install a EV charger system on your property.

Rebates for publicly available commercial electric vehicle chargers.

Rebates are $2,500/port, capped at 50% of installation cost.

  • Electric dryers

Rebates are also available for induction stoves.

Attic insulation serving occupied spaces only.

50% of the project cost up to $250.

Power Factor Correction Rebate for equipment installed by commercial customers.

Green Choices Program

Contribute to the Green Choices Program! This fund provides the resources to explore the development of alternative energy resources that help reduce our dependence on non-renewable fossil fuels, such as natural gas. It also aids in the development of a diverse mix of energy resources for Ames.

Apply for an advanced energy audit to help identify areas to improve. The free audit identifies energy consumption and what changes can do to improve efficiency.
