To celebrate its 50th anniversary, CyRide is hosting a public open house from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the CyRide facility, 601 North University Boulevard.
This family-friendly event will include visuals and bus displays of CyRide throughout the years. A short program will begin at 1:15 p.m. Facility tours will begin after the program.
For 50 years, CyRide has been connecting the Ames community through safe, reliable, and innovative public transportation. The system traces its roots to 1976, when the City of Ames launched transit service to provide affordable transportation for residents and Iowa State University students.
Today, CyRide is Iowa's busiest public transit system and ranks among the nation's leaders in transit ridership per capita, providing millions of passenger trips each year.
