City Hall and all other City facilities are closed to the public as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19. The closures will be effective after 5 p.m. Thursday, March 19, and will continue through May 15, 2020. City staff will continue to report to their offices and serve the public. Residents are encouraged to conduct City business online or by contacting individual City departments directly. Residents who are unsure how to conduct their City business may contact the City’s customer service hotline from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 515.239.5670.
This office is responsible for the production of all programming on Channel 12. Channel 12 is available on Mediacom Channel 12 (Channel 12 or 121-1) and also streaming live and on demand from the city website! City of Ames Channel 12 strives to inform and educate citizens about local government activities.
Channel 12 covers City Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Historic Preservation Commission, Commission on the Arts, Zoning Board of Adjustment, and Parks and Recreation Commission meetings live.
In addition to the live broadcast and web streaming of Ames City Council meetings, meetings are also streamed on Facebook Live and YouTube (when available). Archived meetings are available.
We also produce live-to-tape coverage of the Ames Municipal Band concerts from Bandshell park during the summer.
We also have a variety of original programs covering city services, programs, and events.
