First Time (New) Rental, Pre-sale/Pre-conversion, Information Update, and Transitional Rentals
Owners who need to update their rental housing registration form (e.g. new property manager, new telephone number, new mailing or email address) or who intend to offer a dwelling of any type for rent need to complete and submit a rental registration form. Owners who need to schedule an inspection for pre-sale/pre-conversion inspections must also complete and submit a rental registration form. You can complete the rental registration application on-line or if you prefer you can download a rental registration application and submit it in person, by mail, fax, or may attach it to an email to the Inspection Division (email@example.com). After receiving and reviewing the rental registration application, Inspection staff will contact the owner or property manager to arrange an inspection of the rental property, if one is necessary, within 1-3 business days. Remove from Rental Housing RecordsOwners who would like to remove a rental dwelling from the rental housing records can complete and submit the request to remove from rental housing records form on-line. If you prefer you can download a request to remove from rental housing records form and submit it in person, by mail, fax, or may attach it to an email to the Inspection Division (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Annual Rental Registration Renewal - Currently Registered DwellingsAll owners are billed for one year's registration fee annually in May. The billing period is for the previous twelve months. See the fee schedule at Ames Municipal Code Appendix L.
