Post Date:06/26/2020 9:30 AM

After being closed to the public since March 20, City buildings will begin reopening on Wednesday, July 1, including City Hall and the Ames Public Library. City utility buildings such as the Ames Water Plant remain closed to the public.

Visitors to City buildings are expected to wear masks, limit their time in the building, look for directional signage, and maintain six-foot distancing from other people. Public meetings rooms will not be available for reservation.

The Ames Public Library will offer a phased opening beginning on July 1. The lobby will be open for limited “grab and go” services such as holds pickup and checkouts. Tax forms, copying, and wireless printing will be available. Library staff will also offer “Grab & Go” bags, which feature pre-selected groups of books or movies selected by topics, genres, or reading levels.

Ames Public Library’s hours will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday; from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday; and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, visit
