Florida Avenue Closure Starts Today
Improvements to Florida Avenue from Reliable to Ontario streets will begin today, weather permitting. The City of Ames has contracted with Con-Struct Inc., to complete intake and curb replacement, pavement improvements, and sidewalk infill. This project is expected to be complete within three to four weeks.
Florida Avenue from Reliable to Ontario streets will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. Reliable Street from North Dakota to Florida avenues and Hutchison Street from Georgia to Florida avenues will be open to traffic.
In response to concerns regarding COVID-19, the City has instructed inspectors and the contractor to maintain a social distance of at least six feet, use gloves when necessary, and to stay home when they are sick.
As with all paving operations, saw cutting of joints in newly poured pavement and existing pavement for removal is critical and it may be disruptive beyond normal work hours. All are encouraged to take note of construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time as delays may occur. Exercise caution when traveling near the construction area. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone. For more information, contact Hafiz Ibrahim, Civil Engineer, at email@example.com or 515.239.5245.
