Downtown Parking Meters to Change to Three-Hour Maximums

Post Date:03/16/2020 11:30 AM

City of Ames Public Works staff will begin changing the time limits to three-hour maximums for all on-street parking meters in the Downtown area on Wednesday, March 18. Ames City Council approved this change on Dec. 17, 2019.

On-street parking meters in the Downtown area currently have maximum time limits of two and four hours. Stalls highlighted in yellow on the map are currently two-hour maximum, and stalls highlighted in orange are four-hour maximum. With this change, all on-street parking meters in this district will have a three-hour maximum.

Rates for these stalls will remain at 50 cents per hour. Methods of payment will continue to be coin, pre-paid parking “Smart Cards,” or by using the ParkMobile app on smartphones.

For more information, please contact Brad Becker, Traffic Supervisor, at or 515.239.5535.
